YHAI Biking Expedition, Goa - 28122011 (till 03012012)

Pallavi, me and Sacchi (Colleague @ Red Hat), went to the trip.

Overall distance covered on cycle is around ~250kms.

People in our Group (GB-9, 2011-12) was 17 to start with, and one dropped out even before we left the base camp. 2 more retired after Dudhsagar camp.

Camps were at Assolna, Netravalli, Dudhsagar, Bondla. Photos soon.

Highlight of the trip was Dudhsagar Falls.

Mamallapuram and Chennai on bike - 01122011

Occasion : Marriage of my manager Vidya Sakar (VS).

We (Shishir/Jyothi (on Avenger), Raghavendra/Krishnan (on Pulsar 180), Kaushik/Rahul/Vishwanath/Shylesh/Venki (in Maruthi800), Pallavi/me (on my enfield/TB)), left Bengaluru by 5pm on 30th Nov, 2011.

Kept on riding riding, and reached Mamallapuram by 2:30am.Stayed in Mamalla Beach Resort. Next day spent some time in resort itself. Started towards Chennai by 5pm, reached the reception hall (GreenPark Hotel) by 8:30pm. Attended Marriage Reception, Had dinner, and started towards Bengaluru by 10:30pm.

Continuous riding till Bengaluru except for a break in CCD on the way where we stayed for almost an hour. Reached Bengaluru by 5am, reached home by 5:40am on 2nd Dec, 2011Highlight of the trip is, Pallavi (ie, My wife) rode the bike for more than 100kms while going towards Mamallapuram.

Nandi Hills - 16102011

People : Nagaraj AH, Madura (Both are Pallavi's cousins), Pallavi and me.Vehicle : My Enfield, Naga's Yamaha FZ-RHighlights: My first early morning visit to Nandi Hills. It was pleasant morning over there. While coming back, Pallavi rode my bike for more than 10kms and it was her first riding the enfield. She liked it, and I should say I can give her riding control in any of my bike trips ;-) no mistakes done, and I am pleased.

Chandigarh - 20th May, 2011

Visited Rock Garden. Liked the concept. Pallavi loved it a lot. Played Jula (ಜೋಕಾಲಿ) after a long time. It was fun. After rock garden we went to lake, which didn't attract us so much as of Rock Garden. Later found a hotel near sector 17 (ie, busstand area). Went to Market area in evening.

Stayed in Chandigarh in night, and on 21st got a bus to Delhi and then a flight back to Bangalore.

Dharamshala and Kangra - HP

18th May reached McLeod Ganj (sub-urb of Dharamshala) after seeing 2 temples (chamunda Temple and Baijnath temple on the way.

19th Visited Kangra temple, and then Kangra Fort. It was a good place, but it was very sunny. Not a special place for our wedding anniversary. After getting back to Bhagsu, visited Tibetian temple where Dalai Lama resides. Due to IPL matches in Dharamshala during the same time, the area was very crowded.

20th May, we left towards Chandigarh.

Manali - Himachal Pradesh

We reached Manali after Whitewater rafting at Phirdi on 14th May. Got the bike (Red Enfield Electra, 350cc).

On 15th May, went towards Solang Valley, and then Rohtang Pass (which was not open yet due to Snow). We rode the bike till Martha ~12k ft high on the way.

On 16th left towards Banjar - Jibhi, through Naggaru road. The ride was fun. Went upto a village called Ghiyagi (10kms from Banjar, and 10kms before Jalori Pass). Stayed in a small wooden cottage.

On 17th, Went upto Jalori Pass, from where we did a small trek of 6kms (one-way) to a lake (and a temple near by). Jalori Pass is at a hight of 10k ft. The trek was in forest and for miles of radius we didn't had any human population. It was a nice trek. We had food in Jalori pass and left towards Manali. Visited Hadimba temple in Manali.
Stayed in Manali that night.

White Water Rafting - 14th May 2011

After finishing with Sarpass, we all (pallavi, me, kiran, manoj, achalesh, abhiram, nivedita, gaurav, sudeep) decided to do rafting as we had a full 8hrs of time on 14th May. All others had bus at 6pm on 14th, and we left Kasol around 9:40am..
We all did rafting on river Beas at Phirdi, 4kms before Kullu (from Bhunter side). There are many many water rafting companies which offer you competitive price if you go in a group. We negotiated a very throw away amount of less than 300INR per person for 14kms.

Did it with guide 'Girish' (or Rapid Rider or something similar). It was fun. We took the long ride of 14kms. Rafting was of Grade 2 (Moderate range, no risk of overturning raft).

Photos of this activity are missing as we were entering water and didn't want to carry the camera into the raft.

YHA India's Sarpass Trek - 2011 (3rd May -> 14th May)

It was Feb, 2011. When Kiran sent a mail to our gypsys group saying YHAI Trek registrations are open. I asked Pallavi if she is interested.. and as usual, she said "yes" with full energy.

Details of the trek in YHAI website . If the link doesn't open, then you may wait till next feb for the opening. Keep an eye on the yha india website for any programs.

We did some jogging for 20days or so as a preparation of fitness. I recommend it, as it helps you to comfortably finish the trek.

The schedule of ours in this trip looked like below.

May 3rd: Went Delhi in flight. In HPTDC volvo bus left towards Manali.

May 4th: Got down at Bhunter. Took a bus to Kasol (bus goes to Manikaran). Went to base camp, and registered. (5,100ft)

May 5th: 5:30am -> Bed tea, 6am -7am: exercise, 7:30am -> breakfast, 9-12:30 -> acclimatization walk. 1:00pm -> lunch, 3:00pm -> orientation. 4:30pm -> tea, 7:30pm->dinner. 8:30pm -> camp-fire. 9pm -> good night. It was our batch's cultural program for camp-fire, and we did practice well. Our gang did a skit 'the lost soul' (written by us, narrated by manoj). Me and Kiran sung 'Naavaduva nuDiye kannada nuDi'. All of us sung, 'mile sur mera tumhaara'. It was good.

May 6th: Rock climbing and rappelling were planned activity, but due to rain, rocks were wet and we couldn't do that. Instead we went on a walk to near by villages, and it was fun. In evening we took shower in hot-spring of Kasol.

May 7th: We were supposed to leave to higher camps, but due to the bad weather it got canceled. So we went to Manikaran. Had food in gurudwara there.

May 8th: Our hiking started. We left towards Grahan (7,500ft)

May 9th: Left towards Padri (8,600ft)

May 10th : Left towards Ratapani (10,600ft)

May 11th : Left towards Nagru (12,500ft)

May 12th : Went to Sarpass (13,800ft) and got down to Biskeri (11,200ft). This is the day we had to walk almost 14kms, and 95+% of this trek was on snow. We left at 4am in morning and finished the trek by 11:30am.

May 13th : Our schedule was to goto Bandak thatch. But we skipped it, and went directly to Barsoni (6,400ft). and got a bus and went to Kasol base camp. Got our certificates and left the base camp. We were done with the trip :-) successfully!! We stayed in kasol (hotel) that day, had food in 'little italy'. Had isreli food.

May 14th : left towards Kullu to do water rafting.

A trip around the linganamakki back waters - 22012011

A trip around the linganamakki backwaters on a 2 wheeler (Pulsar 150) with my wife. Not any kind of 'trip' type travel, but had to visit couple of relative's houses. Left home @ Hosalli on 22nd Jan, and came back on 23rd Jan, 2011.

The road which we took looks something like http://goo.gl/maps/sd0q but from Nittor to Sagar, there is a short cut, which goes on ferry @ place called 'Hasiru makki'.

It was almost a 200kms journey and all through it was green. We missed my enfield for its comfort of long drive. Other than that, the trip was nice.

This weekend I was travelling places to invite few ppl for my marriage. I guess, this qualifies as one of the days where I have travelled in maximum number of buses.

From 24th April, 2010, 9:30PM to 25th April, 2010, 11:00PM, I had to get into 8 different buses.

1. Mysore -> Hasan (3hrs)
2. Hasan -> Chickmagalur (2hr)
3. Chickmagalur -> Shringeri (3hr)
4. Shringeri -> Addagadde (15mins)

5. Addagadde -> Koppa (45mins)
6. Koppa -> Balehonnur (1hr 15min)
7. Balehonnur -> Chickmagalur (1hr 45min)
8. Chickmagalur -> Bengaluru (5hr:30min ) (started at 11:00PM from Chickmagaluru).

All of these buses are very basic buses of KSRTC (non-Rajahamsa, Volvo etc). None was a reserved seat, hence in 5 long journeys I was in last seat.

I surely felt that the day was quite long..

It was a nice drive throughout. Nice curvy roads, and it was cloudy, chilly day.. sun came out at the light house when we went. It was a nice place.

Went to beach.. Also just walked through another beach on the way to Muir Woods, but the parking in muir woods was so full, we decided to head back home.

Lake Tahoe - 20091225

Day 1:

We went to 'sierra at tahoe', and took intermediate classes for skiing. It was fun this time, and I could get very comfortable with turning and all.

Temperature in night was around -5*C

Day 2:

Went to Gondala Ride @ heavenly ski resort.. it was fun and temperature on top of mountain was around -11*C.

After that, went through few view points, and headed back to home.

Over all a nice trip, and we all enjoyed skiing a lot.

New Mexico

Day 1: Santa Fe, NM

City, known for old architecture and buildings. One of the early cities of USA/Mexico, tells lot of history about US Vs Mexican war.. Spanish history too.

Drove and stayed near WhiteSands.

Day 2: White Sand National Monument

One hell of a place. Played Football, volleyball, throwball, 'sikkor chendu'., did sand sliding. etc. It was complete fun.

went through El Paso, TX. One of the Border town of US / Mexico. Felt like we are in majestic area of bengaluru. on the roads, instead of guys staring at gals, gals were staring at us :O

Drove and camped near Carlsbad, NM.

Day 3: Carlsbad Caverns National Park

Another natural wonder. The caves here are "BIIIIIGGGGG' and AWESOME. they have electricity here, so the cave looks good. cave is 750ft below the mountain top, and they have elevator. These limestone caves are really a wonder.

Also visited Guadalupe Mountains National Park on the way back.

DeathValley National Park

Expectations were low, but it turned out to be very nice trip. did see waterfalls, deserts (sand dunes), canyons, lake (282 feet below sea level), golf course, castle (history.. manually constructed monument). mountains.

First time in the trip, I actually took time off and slept in back seat of the car while travelling (blame it on changed lifestyle, or jetlag or anything else). Counted stars :p

Lot more to tell.. but well.. may be sometime later.

Got Engaged to Pallavi. Been in native (Hosalli/Hamsagar, Sagar, Shimoga, KA) for a week. Attended Prasad's wedding @ Sirsi. Spent ~10days @ Bengaluru. Mostly time was spent with Pallavi. Watched 'Blue'. Had been to Gluster Office (My first visit to this new building).

Rode Royal Enfield ThunderBird, RX100, RXZ, Bajaj Discover, Honda Activa in this trip :-)

Been to Jogfalls, and KaNNumoogubaayi guDDa, next to our house @ hosalli.

Time just flew away just like that..

Singapore

On my way to India, stopped over @ Singapore. Got Transit Visa at airport, and visited Chaitanya's (my JNVG senior/friend) home. Stayed there during night (landed @ 1:40am in night). Next day morning, went to Sentosa beach and Marina Park. Went on boat ride in Singapore river. Had lunch at Riverwalk Tandoor.

Overall nice stay. Was there for 15hrs in total.

NYC, NY

Date : Sept 30th - Oct 1st, 2009

Visited NewYorkCity for the first time. It was on work, and the customer was @ 5th ave/50th St. Took airtrain/subway from JFK to reach destination. Day went in working with customer, hence nothing interesting.

Evening went on 'Top of the Rock', a ride to the top of rockefeller center. The Lift opened @ 67th Floor. It was the time of sunset. and the view of the city was beautiful. I could see lot of skyscrappers. It was cold wind out there.. I watched sunset, and waited till I see some sight of nicely lit city. But it was getting late to dinner to spend some more time there, also I was alone, which made spending time there more harder.

Met Sowmya after that. went for a walk for time's square. Took photo of NASDAQ center. later headed for dinner. Had dinner at South African Bar and Grill. It was very nice dinner, also this was the first time I met sow for dinner.

Nothing more interesting in this trip as I was very tired of timezone changes, and also I had some work next day. Flew back to Bayarea next day and didn't get any time explore the city.

Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks

Started from SanJose @ 03:30am in morning. Reached Sequoia @ 8am, Booked Crystal Cave trip. Visited Moro Rock. The experience of the Cave was 'awesome'.. Experienced 'The Darkness' inside cave. Overall, amazing nature. Had lunch, went on a drive to Mineral Kings. Saw a bear cub running across the road. My (and most of the people's) first spoting of wild bear in all these trip.

Camped at Buckeye Campgrounds. Played Cards.. had nice sleep (thanks to new sleeping bag).

Next day started with few jumping snaps near the river flowing next to camp ground. Visited Hospital Rock where there are some scribbles from native americans, done few hundred years before.
Drove in General Highway towards Grant Grove, and on the way visited General Grant Tree, which is 3rd Largest tree in the world in terms of volume. Drove to Ceder Grove, and passed through the Rock canyons of Kings canyon, inside which flows Kings rivers.

The star attraction of the trip came when we visited Hume Lake Christian Camp (Well, it was indeed a religious place), where we enjoyed the beauty of nature.. A green grass.. lake, green forest and layers and layers of mountain behind... blue sky (view from bottom to top in photo frame). There we saw a sand volley ball court and reserved it for an hour. Played 3 sets. I enjoyed the game in spite of loosing all the 3, because i was diving all around, running across etc :-)

Food part of the trip started in Denny's, and ended in Chipotle. Inbetween, it was all kokila chapati and mint chutneys.. with lot of side (like chukly, koDbeLe etc)

weekend - 20090912

Saturday played a outdoor volleyball tournament in SantaClara. Helped Prasad with shifting his house. Watched US Open. Evening swam a little.
Sunday morning went on a drive to Santa Cruz (with Kiran, Scud, MS), saw beach volleyball tourney. Had coffee, came back. Saw US Open. Went to Santa Clara for a hindustani Classical music concert by Vyshali KS, who is natively from Sagar. Overall a good weekend.

Rocky mountains, Colorado

Attractions of the trip:
1. Mt Evans (14100+ ft) : Highest altitude paved road of USA takes you to Mt. Evans. Very scenic drive, we could spot some wild life along the way. Wind was very cold on top..

2. Pikes Peak (14100+ ft) : Again, another 14k+ peak where you can drive your car. It has a train which can take you to the top, called 'Cog Railway'. Also you can find lot of bikers (ie, cyclist) on the top.

3. Patel points of Rocky Mountain National Park: We tried and covered almost all the patel points as per the map.

4. Longs Peak (14259ft), camping and hiking: This was the main goal of the trip, camping and hiking. All of us did go up to the camping ground located at 12780ft, just below the Longs Peak, 6miles from TrailHead. It was a night to remember as 3 of us (including me) got altitude sickness <:-( and in the night temperature was in higher 30s (not C, but F). Wind was blowing almost around 70-100mph, which broke the rods of tent, and it fell on us. Happy stories, sad stories, good stories, bad stories.. overall a long night @ longs peak. Next day Scud and Naddy got up and headed to peak. We 3 had altitude sickness, hence packed the tent, and headed back to rangers station. 5. Chasm Lake (11740ft): Me and Kiran went up to the lake which is at the base of Longs Peak, and is a 0.7miles diversion from the longs peak trail. Its gave some nice view of the peak. Started off at 1:55AM from fremont. I took the car initially, headed towards, 880->101 and continued towards Fort Bragg. Took some nap there on curb side, and then headed towards Eureka, Orich, Cresent City..

Details of Redwood National and State Park:

* Fern Canyon

* Scenic Drive

Camped at Mazama Village, Crater Lake, Oregon. Had soup and maggi. Later played cards too.. It rained in morning, thankfully there was no Thunder storm, (well, weather(dot)com predicted one). Travelled around Lake in Rim Drive. The Deep Blue water of Crater Lake was awesome.. Its till date the most wallpaper like place i saw.

We had booked Boat trip inside Lake, but due to previous day's lightening strike, there was some fire along the forest trail which takes us to down the lake, for boats. It got cancelled, and so we decided to leave early, and headed towards McCloud Falls.

We dived into water @ Lower McCloud Falls, and went below the falls. It was complete fun. Water was very cold, may be 7-8 degree Centigrade in temperature.

CAS @ Golden Gate Park, SF, CA

After finishing up with 3 sets in volleyball by 9am, came home and left to San Francisco for visiting California Academy of Science Museum at Golden Gate Park. Took BART to reach SF, and then caught MUNI in city to reach the museum. It was very much crowded by 11:30am, and we mainly watched 'Fragile Planet' movie @ Planetarium. It was surely fun to watch. Also had a look at Aquarium, which had nice collection of sea animals.. also coral reefs..

Later visited Haight-Ashbury, and had Lunch at Eritrean Restaurant. Walked around for sometime, and headed back to home..

Didn't even touch water even though we went all the way along the pacific ocean. It was beautiful day, all the stretch of 17miles drive was covered in clouds when we were there. Decided to visit bigsur and have coffee. It seemed like a good decision as the drive along the coast was nostalgic to me.. very relaxed after 800 miles driving this weekend..

lake tahoe

Target was to cover lake tahoe circumference by car, and stop at patel points and take photos. Also, enjoy the beauty of serene lake tahoe water, stored between sierra nevada mountains. We loved the place. At somepoint, we saw few people swimming in lake, and decided, we should swim too.. Went to Sand Harbor beach. Water was cold (may be in 45+ range), but sun was hot, so is the sight around us. Hence we went in and swam some distance. There were lot of young people who were jumping to water from rocks (10-20ft high). MS and Avati jumped too.. Avati swam around half a km (in 4 laps) over all. Time: 4:30am on 4th July -> 1:00 am 5th July (~21hrs)

This visit was quite a normal one, and our goal was to just 'see' yosemite national park's beauty, instead of any adventure/hike etc. The park was crowded with cars and people. Sadly the department itself had put controlled fire in few regions, which blurred the view from glacier point.
I drove ~400+ miles. It was quite a lively trip with lot of brainstorming discussions.

This time it was with Hitesh (my CEO). Went through ohlone college trail and peak trail. The trail went half the way in shades, so it was a better choice. It was one of the hottest day of the summer today, temperature being 95+ F.

On top there was proper breeze, which compensated for the heat. Did 6miles in 2h45mins.

22nd May:
I reached FLL (Ft. Lauderdale) airport by 22nd 00:10AM. By the time I came out of terminal, Manoj called and told he too reached. It was more than an year since we met, hence had so many things to talk about. From school time to college to childhood :D well by the time we finished these, Kiran joined us, and we spent some more time (till 2:30AM) in airport. Later went to Denny's and hand omlettes, coffee and puppy pancakes. We stayed there even after Denny's people changed shifts. Discussions covered on travel, India, election etc etc..

Well, clock ticked 6:24 and Naddy and Scud called and told they have reached FLL. They came in the car, and had breakfast and we all left to NASA, Kennady Space Center, Orlando. Spent whole day there. It was fascinating to see the place from which most of the space ships have gone out.. heart of American Space program. Got experience of rocket launching. Went to Cocoa beach nearby in evening. After playing frisbee for some time on the sand, headed towards Tampa. Met with Scunder, Shilpa, Mayuresh at hotel. Had dinner, played cards slept.

23rd May:
Next day, went to clearwater beach, where I saw whitest and smoothest sands on seeshore. It started raining after a while, and we headed towards south, to Everglades. On the way, we visited two more beaches, in Saratoga. Siesta beach and another, where me kiran and scud swam for some time. (Scud, I am not going to say that super fast frisbee throw of yours which made it disappear in sea :D)

Then headed towards Florida City, through Everglades. We saw one nice bridge on the way, saw lot of fishing birds, their awesome dive, etc. While in everglades, made many stops, and spotted some allegators, along with many turtles, and birds. Had dinner with Scunder, Baji, Shilpa. Came back to hotel, played cards, Slept.

24th May:
Got up, got ready, headed to Key Largos State Park, Registered there for Scuba diving. Dave (BIG WAVE DAVE as per his name plate on chest) was our guide. Saw videos of scuba diving, got instructions, details of possible injuries, emergency measures etc. Then got into water, and went through the basic learning process. As it was just one guide and 4 of us learning (and Naddy was already certified), it was very late by the time we finished training, and we had to get ready to dive. Missed lunch (well, I had a banana). Went in the diving boat, and it was open sea 3 miles away from shores (well, depth was ~30-40ft), and we had to dive in the water with oxygen cylinders. It was first time for 4 of us, and 3 of us not so good swimmers. By the time we could understand buoyancy control, It was a mess around there as some of us were going up, some going down. Dave got pissed and took us back to boat. Our next dive was near Statue of Jesus, where we did little better and touched around 30ft down, stayed inside water for more than 30mins. Well, again, me and Mano screwed up with buoyancy and Dave pulled us back to boat.
Over all, an awesome experience. Got a certificate from PADI saying I did a open water scuba diving :D

Went to hotel, tired. Had dinner, played cards, slept.

25th May:
Headed towards Key West, 3hrs drive. Booked in FURY water adventure sports package. Did parasailing (two times, with Manoj once, and with Kiran once), swam in sea water, climbed iceburg (artificial, made of rubber, and had hooks to climb), did solo kayaking. Did Jetski, liked it a lot, need more control on the handles. Had lunch on the boat itself, and then headed to snorkeling in coral reef. It was good, but I prefer Andaman's corel reefs much better as it had more type of corels and is more colour full. Beer was free after all this, had some. Met Sowmya and Co. on the same boat. Roamed around KeyWest, Took photos at Southern most point of Continental USA, which is just 90miles to Cuba. Drove back to hotel, was tired, so slept early.

26th May:
Left hotel early, headed towards Everglades, saw lot of wildlife, plenty of Anhinga, allegators, other birds. Visited Flamingo visitor center, and on the way back, Had ಎಳೆನೀರು, ಕಬ್ಬಿನ ಹಾಲು, ಮಾವಿನ ಹಣ್ಣು :D maja bantu :-)
after all this, headed towards Miami, visited south beach, and some minor beaches around. It was all nice, but couldn't spend time there as our flight time was getting closer. Dropped Manoj to airport, headed to Dania beach next to FLL airport, had food, came back to airport.

Flight got delayed, missed connecting flight by 10mins at Phoenix, and had to sleep at the airport. So tired that I could easily get good sleep on the chairs itself.

27th May:
First flight to SFO, came home, dropped Gowda to SFO airport, went to office, and back to busy working life :D

Boston visit

I visited boston this weekend (04/30 - 05/03), as I had to attend my cousin/friend Shilpa's graduation day at Northeastern University.
While going it was one stop flight, changed over at Denver.

Met Sowmya after a long time (around 7yrs). It was my first experience with graduation ceremony. Liked it, though it was bit boring.
Visited Harvard University, and later went to Quincy Market. It was fun.

Yosemite National Park - camping

Did a camping trip to yosemite with a big gang.

People: Amar, Basavanagowda, Javeen, Karthik, Krishna, MS, Murthy, Prasad, Subhash.

Went to Yosemite valley, did a small hike to vernal falls from happy isle. dropped ipod to water, which fell 30+ft, after hitting rocks many times. camped at heagdon meadow campground.

The worst/best part of the trip happened that night. We did a camp fire, didn't had wood, but begged from others and got some. In night, before sleeping didn't feel the cold because we had fire. But when we slept inside the tent, it was *really* cold. Temperature was around 30-40F, and it was freezing. Most of us didn't sleep properly.

Sunday drove back to home after visiting Hetch Hetchky National park/Dam. It was nice place, quite remote.

Las Vegas

It was overall fun trip. Been to David Copperfield's magic show (in MGM Grand).

Been on Roller Coaster ride in NewYork NewYork. Saw fountain of Bellagio. Also visited, ceasers palace, paris, sahara, mirage, treasure island, venetian. Over all a ':O' about the grand ness of that place.

Also while driving, mountains around were full of snow, and it was such a pleasant drive. Drove 500miles continously.

The Phantom of the Opera

Been to Fresno yesterday (Dec 13th), for Metallica concert. Me, avati and Prasad went there around 4pm, concert started at 7pm, and ended around 11:30pm.. Fresno is around 180miles from our place, so took around 3+3 hrs drive overall. Prasad drove all of it. A nice trip..

Had been to kayaking yesterday with Prasad. The event was organised by one of the Meetup groups. We were inside Kayaks over the sea for more than 2hrs and happen to see lot of sea lions, and seals. Also many birds like cormorants. Did see a big Jelly fish.

Shoreline Park - Mountain View

skiing @ Lake Tahoe

I had seen it in TV, I had imagined it in dreams, and I had thought that I may not get chance to try this out at all. Just a week since I entered USA, I got a invitation for skiing from Madan. I agreed. After another week, we were out to skiing. We were 5ppl. Chaitanya (aka, chena), Madan (aka micromysore), Manushree, Raghavendra (aka Gunda) and me (aka bulde :p) It was ~4hrs drive from Fremont. We went to Lake Tahoe (ie, south of lake tahoe, called "skiing at sierra tahoe"). I went to beginners class before lunch, and after lunch tried it myself. I fell many times, but It was fun too.., a new experience, a new feeling. Never tried to go fast, as i didn't had control.
Over all it was a fun weekend. Came back on the same day. And no break taken while coming back.

shortest trip to mysore

We (me, avati and gowda) left B'lore at ~12:45pm in Gowda's car. Reached Mysore at 3:30pm, met Kris, went to Avati's place. Left to B'lore at ~5pm. Reached B'lore at 8pm.

Overall, we were in Mysore for less than 2hrs. This trip is one of my shortest visit to Mysore.

mysore - on bike

Mysore is the default destination if you want to travel/drive/ride, and you don't have any place in mind. It happened to me too.. I just wanted to ride the bike, as I was bored of riding it slowly, in lower gears in the city traffic.

Pramod told he wants to accompany me, hence we left Bengaluru around 7.50AM. Didn't give any coffee/food break inbetween. Weather was good, little cold. Hence I rode continuously till Mysore. Reached there around 10.10am, Had coffee in CCD. Just roamed around in Mysore till evening. Went to Avati's place, had coffee. Left Mysore around 8pm.

Gowda also came with us, hence Pramod shifted to his car. We came bit slowly taking breaks as we pleased. Went to Maddur CCD. had some coffee. Reached home at 11.40PM.

Total distance covered : 328kms.
I rode whole of it, and more than 170kms alone

Andaman Trip

It was a long trip after a long time. I was in Andaman for 8 complete days. Been to many places there. It was a over all a great trip.

* Cellular Jail (attended Light and Sound show too)
* North Bay or Coral Reef (Did snorkeling there for more than 2 hrs)

* Chidiyatapu Beach
* Wandur Beach (Went to a nearby Island, and did snorkeling).
* Went through Jarawa Reserve Forest. Got a chance to watch them. (Jarawas are one of the tribe present in only Andaman Islands)
* Active Mud Volcano @ kadamtala
* Kalipur Beach and Guest House (in Digalipur forest range)
* Kalpong Dam
* Ross & Smith Island
* Maya bunder Beach (its a small town too)
* Rangath (a small town)
* Lime Stone cave (near Baratang), went in fast boat inside mangrove forest.
* Anthropology museum.

I was went there with Guru, Harsha, Pramod and Prasad. Both ways traveled in flight.

mysore - tuxedo 2007

Duration: 14-18th Nov

Me and Gowda left to Mysore as I was invited as Chief guest for Inaugural of Tuxedo-07 @ SJCE, my college. Directly went to betta from mysore as Poo was missing Gow. After inaugurals, had lunch @ southern star, and went to Karanji lake as I had got a new D40 with 18/135 Nikkor lens. Went on boating. Night went to Greens for tea, and Grandpa's for OMR. Next day went to Kaveri Nisargadama with Gow, Poo and NitinRanga. It was a decent trip. Again sat @ Green for lunch+tea. Later went to Jungle daba with JackDaniels. Next day almost stayed at Nitin's place. Left to b'lore on 17th evening. While coming back, had an accident. Went back to mysore as PalguNa came to pick us up. I left to b'lore next day morning, but Gowda stayed back as he had pain.

chennai

shivana samudra and jog falls

Shivanasamudra :
On 15th August, 2 cars(alto, ikon), 9 ppl(avati, gowda, teju, ane, bhukamp, koLi, pinka, honnu, me). Just went to Gaganachukki, there was a big traffic jam to reach barachukki. so, came back.

JogFalls and more:
Left b'lore on 16th night, in two cars (alto and ikon), while going we were 8ppl (kris, avati, naga, pammu, gowda, vikki, ritu and me). This was special in some sense as this is the first time, our gang went with a girl. Thanks to ritu, who decided to join us, even though she didn't knew anyone there other than me.
On 17th morning we had breakfast in sagar and went to my native. We all rested for a while and after getting up, had bath, and lunch. after lunch left to JogFalls. My bro Shreedhar and cousin Anil joined us. For our disappointment there was not much water at Jog. But it was royal enough to enjoy. We all went down to the bottom. While coming back, we were the last one. Thanks to Ritu.
That day night, gowda went back to his native, with Vikki. Bhatta joined us after that (~10pm). After that we played poker till 2.30am, After that we spoke about lots of interesting things till 4am. Later slept. Next day it was noon when everyone got up.
Again on 18th, went to Jog in the evening, this time it was not the 'neeru' which was of interest, but 'neere' :p anyways, covered raja seat and went to british bunglow this time. Also saw the waterfalls, sleeping on the rock. It was a great feeling. While getting back home, spent some time watching lights on the dam from the top of the valley. In the night, after dinner went for a walk. It was awesome as ppl started telling stories one after another about ghosts etc. Ritu was scared to the core. After getting back home, lots of things happened. Gowda stole the show beating others hands down. It was totally fun.
Next day, we went on hill next to my place, watched linganamakki backwaters. There we had a session of dancing by raksha (my cousin) and gowda :) for videos contact me :p

reaching eastern coast - trip to pondicherry

Distance travelled: 797km on bike(334, 434, 797 on end of each day), 900km on car :O (103 extra traveling in car is due to local travelling in pondy).

Places covered: Pondicherry and Mamallapuram (also known as mahabalipuram).

Few points about the trip:
* My first visit to eastern coast (other than kanyakumari, which actually is south).
* First time rode bike in *heavy* rain. Rode it for more than an hour in rain :O
* Almost dry trip when it comes to alcohol (just two tins of KF is not alcohol at all :p)
* Riding bike at an average speed of 100+ is an awesome feeling.
* Rode bike alone for more than 500kms.
* Mostly my last bike trip.

I got it on August 26th, 2006. And its almost 9months now. I didn't ride it for 3months when I was in venezuela.

Overall, after getting him, it was a great company. Few highlights of the bike trip may be
* Numerous visits to Maddur/Mandya coffee day. (countless)
* Two trips to Mysore. (~700kms)
* Trip to Bluff (GaganaChukki/Barachukki) falls. (~340kms)
* Two visits to Native (350kms from b'lore). (~1400kms)
* Pune, Mahabaleswar trip. (2310kms)
* Kanyakumari trip.(1575kms)

This makes the long ride on the bike more than 65% of the time :) I rock :D

Other than riding part, sadly it had less than 2% of the time any female on its backseat. :|

Tuxedo'05

It was nice.

Friday evening left early from office, met hagarth and kris in an auto @ richmond circle, went to busstand, got a bus to mysore. In bus, helped kris to laugh :) talked with hagarth about life, books and lot more. Reached Mysore at 11pm, went to Harsha's room. He had got a parcel of veg pulao and curd rice. But I thought I will have some drinks before having food, so had vodka with harsha and shishir(who had old monk).
Good, after this saw movie "requiem for a dream", by that time it was 2.30am, slept. Went to college next day. Met few seniors and many juniors. Went out for lunch. Attended quiz in evening (not as a competitor). Went out with organisers for dinner to "green leaf". Me, hagarth and avati shared the bill :)
Night, saw movie "the shawshank redemption", slept at 2.25am. Got up, went to college for seeing gdb finals. Avati was giving them the problem to solve. Left to lunch, left mysore by evening.
A nice break after a busy week.

Been to this place this Sunday. I had not been to Gokarna before, but for MurDeshwara, its my 4th trip. It was nice trip. I wonder about RNS's faith (or just Money), he is spending too much in murdeshwara to make it a tourist place. Gokarna, I went to Om beach. It was good.

sangam

Continuous 4th week going outside b'lore. This time, the planned destination was Sangam and Makedaatu. Planned to go there on bikes, but we couldn't arrange bikes, so finally decided to go on bus. Other people with me were, Pammu, Guru and Keppa (oh! sorry Manu). Major motivation for the trip was guru, as he got his new Nikon SLR camera.
This is one of the flop trip I had been to. We struggled as there were no direct buses to that place. Later after reaching Sangam, we came to know that going to Makedaatu is not possible as the river Arkavathi is flowing madly, it was full and fast. Bad thing is we couldn't get into water in Sangam also as the water was completely muddy, and was not safe to step in.
Came back to b'lore and slept as I had got headache by the time i reached b'lore.

Sringeri and Mangalore

i like to take decisions lately or say suddenly. the same thing happened three days back. i was in office till 8.30pm, and suddenly i thought i will goto sringeri. (actually the plan of going there was pending from many days in the mind) fine, i called up the aunt in sringeri (a near by village near sringeri) and told her i may come to their home. fine, after that left office at around 9pm and went home. my sister wanted to take a picture of her son and mail the photo to her sister-in-law who is in usa. i had to take the pictures, download it and send that. after that had dinner and told everyone that i will goto sringeri (it was around 10pm then). as usual they told ok. i packed up my luggage, went out of the home. it was raining like hell. no umbrella in our house. but i decided to stick to the decision. so, ran to near by bus stand (some 100-150mts) by then i was little wet. i asked those guys and they told bus to sringeri just left. i caught a auto and reached ksrtc bus stand. there also there were no direct buses to sringeri. i caught a bus to chickmagalur, and from there went to sringeri.
i liked this trip especially because i was alone most of the time. on saturday went and saw sringeri temple. on sunday morning left early from aunt's house and caught a bus to karkala and from there went to m'lore. after going there, met paddu and had lunch in their home only. later in evening went to beach. it was nice fun. after coming back, had icecream in pabba's. left m'lore around 10pm.
totally to summarise it was surely a nice trip. travelled more than 800kms in 2.5 days.

Been to this place today. It was Mensa India, Bangalore chapter first event after renewal. 15 mensans turned up. I missed Guru's company over there. It was a nice trip. Those rock hills are very steep, in fact one of the steepest paths I have seen while trekk. Nice trip.. photos and further details later.

kerala

Been to kerala this weekend. Not for any trip, it was for collegue's wedding. Been there for just one day (less than 12 hours). His place is very near to Vagamon area. Its a great place. Surely will go there some time soon. Covered by greenary everywhere.
Nothing much special about it other than saying it was my first Kerala trip.

jog falls

This weekend I had been to JogFalls. It was great. Went to my native with Avati, Gururaj, Pramod, Jithamithra. It was surely a nice trip. Enjoyed every moment of it. Was quite busy these days, so badly needed a break. Surely this was a great break. Been to Gerusoppa Falls also

Hampi

Been to Hampi last Saturday (16.07.2005). A great place. It was vast. I was very much thrilled by seeing the place, at the same time felt bad also as most of the things are destroyed. Actually one needs atleast two days to see it completely. We didn't knew this before, so planned only one day trip. But anyway covered all the places there (not satisfied yet, may go there again)

Trip to chickmagalur

It was nice trip. went to chickmagalur on saturday morning. Went to Hebbe falls through coffee estates's mud road. The jeep was going like a bullock cart. Had a nice time in hebbe falls, later went to Kemmannu gundi. Its a nice place. As no guest house was available, came back to chickmagalur and stayed in a lodge there. In night had a nice party with smirnoff, God actually became fan of smirnoff ;-)
Next day, ie on Sunday(24/04/05) went to Belur/Halebeedu. They are really a great piece of work. After seeing the temple there, went to a forest guest house called 'malaya marutha' at the beginning (at end to people coming from down) of Charmudi Ghat. That place was amazing. Too good. As every time I feel, felt so small in front of Nature. Nature is surely great. In night, we (me, Pammu and God[Prasad]) discussed a lot on future life, relationship and as usual girls :-P The discussions were at a high level (intelectually). Later got a bus to B'lore and came back to b'lore.

Shramaadhaana

Yesterday had been to Goloka, of Sri Ramachandrapura mata for shramaadhaana (literal meaning "Donating work"), Lot of physical work after many days. We did work like typical formers (which we are originally). Whole body was paining after the work. Took two days for getting back to normal state. Had a nice weekend

Mysore visit

Today I am in mysore, Came at arround 1.30pm. Had lunch in JewelRock. Later went to college, met Avati and some juniors (Sri,Bharath, Ballal, slum, gou, joy) went to coffee day, met Capo there. Had nice time. Went to HP lab, and explained few about our gridftp project. Later went near Yashaswini, met many of my batchmates, for dinner went to Bopy's Pub. Drinked after a long time. Had nice time. Now in Harsha's room trying to read a driver for wireless card. Have to see few more films in his comp. Enjoy, good night.

Jungle resort and fishing

It was fun. yesterday was completely passed with Smirnoff and KF(after there was no smirnoff), but sometime inbetween, did fishing, and boating. Played volleyball a little. Campfire, DumbSee were really fun. More details later, have to go to home now

bannerugatta

I was been to Bannerughatta National Park yesterday. I went to the Grand safari, which includes safari of Tiger, Lion also. I liked the tigers man! They were really nice. It was lunch time for them, so they were almost on the road :-), later went to zoo, but then it was after lunch session, so most of the animals were sleeping. Anyway It was a nice trip.

nandi hills

yesterday, I went to Nandi Hills. A place you can see once. I can say that place is good if you have girl sitting at your backseat in two wheeler ;-) Anyway it was my first visit to NandiHills so, it was nice place to see. Now, while coming back, it was little dark and our vehicle got punctered some 10kms before Yelahanka. :-( It was very bad. Thank god ! we were troup of 11 members and in that two other bikes were near us at that time, so we could manage to remove the back wheel, and get that repaired. In that process, two of my friends was busy, and other three (including me) didnot want to waste time, So, we found a Bar nearby and got 1 KF stong and 1 KF premium with some snacks and started having that in the highway side only. I tell you, this was really a great experiance having drinks on the side of Highway :-) ....
